Buen Vecino Senior Living Community is a brand new, affordable housing community for adults aged 62 and older. In July 2026, JKRRED client, Osceola County Council on Aging celebrated the grand opening of Buen Vecino, many years in the making, keeping a promise to seniors in the county.
Designed specifically for seniors, Buen Vecino offers a welcoming environment with features that support aging in place and everyday comfort. Residents will benefit from accessible apartment layouts, community-focused living spaces, and convenient access to nearby services and amenities. The development is intended to provide long-term housing stability for income-qualified seniors while fostering a sense of connection and community.
The $24 million project was financed by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), HOME/American Rescue Plan, FHFC 4% LIHTC, the City of Kissimmee, Osceola County and the Federal Home Loan Bank of Atlanta. This structured financing model allows Buen Vecino residents to pay only 30 percent of their income toward rent, enabling them to remain close to family, healthcare providers, shopping and other essential services close by.
Wendy Ford, CEO of Osceola Council on Aging, notes, “For nearly 30 years, one of the greatest privileges of serving the Osceola Council on Aging has been helping older adults remain independent and continue living with dignity. Buen Vecino is a reflection of that mission. These 60 affordable apartment homes represent far more than housing. They represent peace of mind for the seniors who will live here, knowing they have a safe, welcoming community to call home.”
